Reel Women Overnight Camping
on the South Fork River
with Heise Expeditions
July through early October

Campfire

Heise Expeditions takes great pride in their premier camp nestled in the heart of the South Fork River Canyon. Delicious full-course meals and comfortable tent camping will bring new meaning to the term “roughing it.”

Two days on the South Fork offers incredible fishing for Yellowstone Cutthroat, Rainbows and Brown Trout. You’ll have a blast imitating the thick hatches of Stoneflies and Pale Morning Duns.

A streamside lunch will give you an opportunity to spot moose and bald eagles and, the best part of this trip is that you wake up on the river, eat a delicious hot breakfast and there you are, ready to meet Mr. Trout! This is a gem, and one of our favorite trips.

Cars are parked in Victor and trucks are loaded with fishing equipment and lunches. The ride to the South Fork is about 40 minutes. Guides will then load and get the drift boats ready while you gear up for the fly fishing experience of a lifetime!

You will spend the first day floating and fishing a beautiful 12-mile stretch of river while casting to rising trout. Our guides love teaching and welcome any questions you may have while on the river.

Depending on the day, we usually arrive in camp between 6-7 p.m. Upon arrival, you will find appetizers and a full bar. Your tent will be set up with 6-inch sleeping pads, clean, comfortable sleeping bags and pillows. Facilities include porta pottys and hot water for washing up. In camp we generally wear jeans or comfortable pants and layers for colder nights. There's always a big campfire to sit around and tell fish stories! Our chef will provide you with a fabulous full course dinner.

Coffee is ready by 7 a.m. and breakfast is around 8:30 a.m. We usually head out by 9:30, depending on the weather and fishing conditions. There is nothing like waking up on the river and getting that fly rod in motion right away. Some of the biggest and best fish are taken right after leaving camp, so be ready!

ADDED EQUIPMENT NEEDED FOR CAMPING
Clothes & shoes to wear in camp, a warm hat, a warm jacket and a change of clothes for the next day of fishing. This is in addition to our Reel Women Tacklebox List.
